President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to oversee the planning of a National Education Forum, fulfilling his commitment to addressing Ghana’s educational challenges.
The committee, chaired by Professor George K. T. Oduro, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, has been given two weeks to submit its report and detailed plan.
The committee includes education experts such as Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D., and Professor Smile Dzisi.
Also on the team are Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz. Their collective expertise is expected to shape a comprehensive stakeholder engagement.
The committee’s terms of reference include developing a theme and sub-themes, identifying key stakeholders—ranging from students, parents, and teachers to civil society organizations and policymakers—proposing a venue and budget, and drafting an education policy framework.
A key focus is to ensure that the forum leads to actionable recommendations, with a plan to implement them within three weeks after the event.
