Mahama appoints Prosper Douglas Bani, Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.), others to key national security roles

President John Dramani Mahama has announced four significant appointments to strengthen the nation’s security framework.

Former Chief of Staff, Prosper Douglas Bani, has been appointed National Security Advisor to the President. Mr. Bani, who previously served as Minister for the Interior, brings extensive experience and knowledge to the role.

In addition, DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak will serve as National Security Coordinator, responsible for ensuring a cohesive and strategic approach to security across all initiatives.

COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.), a seasoned security expert, has been appointed Director of Operations at the Presidency, where he will oversee operational effectiveness in security matters.

Furthermore, Charles Kipo has been appointed Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau, tasked with overseeing the intelligence operations that are vital to national security.

The statement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, and released today, January 15, 2025.

These appointments reflect President Mahama’s commitment to enhancing the nation’s security infrastructure and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.
