Johnnie Hughes wants the best for Ghana, not just NDC– Afenyo-Markin

Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called on Ghana’s political parties to value constructive criticism, regardless of its origin.

The outgoing Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu shared this with 3FM while addressing recent remarks by media personality Johnnie Hughes, known for his bold critique of government policies and actions.

“The NDC might think they have benefited from Johnnie Hughes’ criticisms of the NPP,” Afenyo-Markin noted, “but I know he wants what’s best for the country and will do the same when they assume power.”

He emphasized the importance of moving beyond partisan interpretations, suggesting that criticisms like Hughes’ are aimed at promoting national progress rather than fueling division.

“It’s about speaking the truth, no matter which side of the political divide you’re on,” he stressed.

Afenyo-Markin also touched on a broader theme of unity, advocating for actions that transcend party lines.

“Naming a facility or a street after a prominent person, even from the opposition, is about serving the people and bridging the gap,” he explained.

The Effutu MP called on both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to create a political landscape that embraces honest feedback and uses it as a tool for governance.
