John Mahama advocates for revival of Inter-Schools Football and Milo Championships
Former President and NDC Flagbearer John Mahama has called for the reinstatement of inter-schools football and the Milo Championships in Ghana.Speaking at a town hall meeting with the youth at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Mahama stressed the importance of these tournaments in identifying and developing Ghana's football talent.He noted that past editions of the Milo Championships have produced prominent players such as Stephen Appiah, the late Christian Atsu, Asamoah Gyan, and Sulley Muntari."Football is national sports and everybody love it but we must organize it in such a way we will be able to get something," he said."So we must bring back the inter-schools football, the milo championships, the academicals, and the coaches so that we pick talents."Mahama also pointed out the recent shortcomings of Ghana's national team in the Africa Cup of Nations, having failed to advance beyond the group stages in the last two editions.He advocated for a structured approach that integrates both local and international players to restore Ghana's footballing success.
