Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says Otto Addo will need to be supported to be able to succeed as the coach of the senior national team.

The team under the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win against Mali in Bamako before a thrilling 4-3 win against Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium, propelling the team to the second spot in Group I.

However, the former Udinese midfielder believes there are positives in the games Otto Addo can build on going forward but will need support to build a good team.

"I think in his second coming, he said he's coming to build a team for Ghana. When he leaves, then he has a legacy,” Agyemang-Badu told Joy Sports.

“He's bringing in new good guys. We have watched the two games. You can't even remember the last time we won two straight games, especially an away game. So, we can build on that.”

"There are a lot of lapses in the team. That one, we can’t run away from that. He's well experienced. This is the second coming. He knows where he needs to beef up. We will support him.

“I mean, I'm a fan of him. Let me tell you that for a fact. I think he will build a good team for us.

“He should be very tough like how he is as usual. Take decisions that he thinks will help him and help the team. That's the most important thing," he added.

After the wins in the global showpiece qualifiers, the Black Stars will now turn their attention to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with a home game against Angola in September later this year.
