Two individuals were arrested at Parliament House on Wednesday (18 December) after they were caught vandalising vehicles parked on the premises.
The suspects, identified as Wisdom Ahile, 42, and Christopher Okyere, 33, were apprehended by security personnel following the incident.
According to an official statement issued by the Parliamentary Service, the vandalism occurred around 10:30am on Wednesday.
The suspects were seen damaging windscreens and side windows of five vehicles, including two Toyota Land Cruisers belonging to Members of Parliament, a Toyota Rav4, and two Toyota Camrys owned by parliamentary staff.
The statement further revealed that an axe head was used in committing the act. However, the motive behind the attack remains unknown at this time.
The swift intervention of the parliamentary security unit led to the immediate arrest of the suspects, who have since been handed over to the parliamentary protection unit of the Ghana Police Service.
Authorities are currently conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the incident.
