Veteran rapper Snoop Dogg has never been one to shy away from expressing his views, and his recent Instagram post showed that even the harshest criticism can’t dampen his spirit.
The 53-year-old hip-hop legend addressed the backlash he’s facing for performing at the Crypto Ball, an event that took place during the weekend leading up to Donald Trump’s inauguration as President.
In his characteristic laid-back style, Snoop Dogg told his fans, “It’s Sunday man, I got gospel in my heart right now.”
He continued, “For all that hate, I’m going to answer with love. Y’all can’t hate enough on me. I love too much. Get your life right stop worrying about mine. I’m cool, I’m together. Still a Black man, still 100 percent Black.”
His message was clear: despite the criticism, Snoop remains confident in who he is and resolute in his decision to perform at the event, regardless of the political storm surrounding it.
The backlash stems from a complex and layered history. During Trump’s first term, Snoop was vocal in his disdain for the former president, calling out Black people who supported him.
The rapper even went as far as to label any Black artist who performed at Trump’s inauguration events as “jiggaboos,” using the term to describe those who he felt were compromising their integrity for the sake of fame or fortune.
Fast forward to the present, and many of Snoop Dogg’s fans are perplexed by his decision to perform at the Crypto Ball, which was closely tied to Trump’s inauguration.
For many, it seemed like a contradiction of the stance Snoop had previously taken. His words at the time seemed to distance him from anyone who would align themselves with Trump, making it even harder for his fans to reconcile his past sentiments with his recent actions.
But as Snoop Dogg made clear in his Instagram live, he’s not letting past judgments or current criticisms get in the way of his peace.
His decision to perform, he suggested, was rooted in something larger than politics or public opinion. “I love too much,” he emphasized, asserting that love for others—no matter the hate thrown his way—remains his guiding principle.
