I faced backlash for speaking the truth about Akufo-Addo – Nana Kwame Jantuah

Veteran broadcaster and political analyst Nana Kwame Jantuah has revealed that despite his unwavering support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he faced severe backlash from both party supporters and its leadership when he expressed concerns about President Nana Akufo-Addo’s leadership style.

Speaking in an interview with Akoto Mansa on her YouTube show Asetena Pa monitored by MyNewsGH, the Adom FM presenter recounted how his objective political analysis, based on research and polls, was dismissed by party loyalists who saw his criticism as an attack rather than constructive feedback.

“I conducted research during the 2020 elections and accurately predicted that Akufo-Addo would win, but Mahama’s NDC would secure more parliamentary seats. I shared my findings on social media with evidence to back them,” Jantuah stated.

His predictions turned out to be true, as the NDC made significant gains in Parliament, leading to a near-equal split between the two major parties.

However, instead of being acknowledged for his accuracy, Jantuah said he found himself at odds with NPP supporters when he later raised concerns about Akufo-Addo’s attitude in governance.

According to him, in 2021, after Akufo-Addo began his second term, he noticed worrying signs that the President’s approach to leadership could damage the party’s credibility and electoral prospects.

He publicly warned that Nana Akufo-Addo’s “arrogance and dismissive attitude” could push voters away and hurt the NPP in the future.

“I told them to go and advise Nana Akufo-Addo to make the right decisions, but instead, they attacked me for speaking the truth,” he stated.

Jantuah explained that he was not speaking as an opposition figure but as someone who wanted the best for the NPP.

However, instead of engaging with his concerns, party loyalists dismissed him, calling him disloyal.

“It was surprising because I have always been a strong NPP supporter, but I realized that some people within the party do not want to hear the truth. If we cannot be honest about the mistakes of our leaders, how do we expect to move forward?” he questioned.
