Nigerian music star Blackface Naija has reached out to his former bandmate 2Face Idibia and his wife, Annie Idibia, following the announcement of their divorce.
In a Twitter post, Blackface offered words of encouragement to the estranged couple, reminding them of their responsibility as public figures.
Earlier this week, 2Face, whose real name is Innocent Ujah Idibia, confirmed the end of his marriage with Annie in a social media post.
The announcement took many by surprise, as the couple had always been one of Nigeria’s most celebrated celebrity pairings. However, 2Face’s statement made it clear that they were no longer together and were currently going through a divorce process.
In light of this development, Blackface, who has had a long and complicated relationship with 2Face, extended an olive branch.
The two were once part of the popular music group Plantashun Boiz before they had a public fallout, with Blackface accusing 2Face of song theft and other grievances.
Despite their history, Blackface’s message showed a maturity and understanding of the delicate nature of relationships, especially those played out in the public eye.
“I bid to you both good tidings, Mr & Mrs Idibia. I am reaching out to you guys at this time to remind us to show decorum and be civil with whatever proceedings you may be going through,” Blackface wrote, urging the couple to handle their divorce with dignity.
He continued, emphasizing the role of public figures in setting an example for others: “As role models, we should always set good examples for this generation to emulate, and the older generations to be proud.”
Blackface’s post was not just an observation but also a message of empathy. “Let’s keep it together in the family as every relationship has its ups and downs,” he wrote, acknowledging that marital struggles are a part of life and urging the Idibias to navigate this difficult time with strength and unity.
In his closing remarks, Blackface conveyed his support for their family. “I pray God gives you both the strength to scale through this. My regards to your families and my love to your kids. With love, BlackfaceNaija.”
