Hajia Lariba Zuwera Abudu, the outgoing Member of Parliament(MP) for the Walewale constituency, has reaffirmed her commitment to unity and progress within her community, despite stepping away from the upcoming parliamentary race.
Recently, she met with kooko sellers across the constituency, using the platform to deliver a powerful message about unity, peace, and collective effort as the key to retaining the Walewale seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This gesture comes in the wake of her decision to withdraw from the NPP parliamentary race, announced in September.
The decision followed a rerun conducted by the party and the subsequent reactions from her supporters.
While the move surprised many, Hajia Lariba emphasized that it was motivated by a desire to promote unity within the NPP, particularly at a time when internal harmony is crucial for both the parliamentary and presidential ambitions of the party.
Hajia Lariba’s optimism about her withdrawal’s impact reflects her deep understanding of grassroots politics.
“I remain optimistic that this decision will bring peace and unity to our great party,” she explained, underscoring the importance of a united front as the NPP prepares for the 2024 elections.
She also highlighted the need to rally behind the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the chosen parliamentary candidate to secure a decisive victory in December.
