Government releases GHC50 million to WAEC for exams

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has disbursed GHC50 million to the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to facilitate the smooth conduct of the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a press release dated Thursday (29 August), the Ministry emphasised the government’s commitment to meeting its financial obligations to WAEC.

The funding is aimed at ensuring that the council can carry out the examinations without disruptions.

“We wish to reassure all stakeholders, especially students, parents, guardians, and the general public, of our dedication to sustaining an environment that fosters seamless, efficient, and high-quality education for all Ghanaian students,” the statement read.

This financial support is seen as a critical step in guaranteeing that WAEC can deliver on its mandate to administer these crucial exams effectively.
