Government completes 47 hospital projects since 2017, says Nsiah Asare

Government has completed 47 hospitals so far in a bid to enhance healthcare delivery across the country, the presidential advisor on health, Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare, has said.

His comment comes after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) alleged that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has failed to complete a single hospital since assuming office in 2017.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show after Tuesday’s (2 September) Regional TownHall Meetings and Exhibition in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Dr Asare said the opposition (NDC) could not complete a single Euroget project during their eight-year tenure.

“I can say on authority that this government has completed several hospitals, for example, we came to meet the Euroget project which was started by former president John Agyekum Kufuor,” he said.

“For the eight years that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was in power, not a single one of the Euroget projects was completed and commissioned So far since 2017… nine abandoned Euroget projects have been completed [and] commissioned for use.”

Dr Nsiah Asare added, “This government has since inception in January 2017 completed 47 hospitals. These are not part of the Agenda 111 projects…”
