The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have flatly denied allegations that military facilities were improperly used for ammunition transportation, which were made public by a widely shared audio recording on social media.
The GAF called the claims untrue and urged the public to completely ignore the false information in a press release on 25 December 2024.
The statement emphasised the necessity for people and organisations to confirm security service information before disseminating it online.
“Such actions tend to create unnecessary tension and also cause fear and panic in the country, especially around this period,” the statement said.
The Ghana Armed Forces encouraged anyone with questions or concerns to get in touch with its Department of Public Relations and assured the public of its openness.
GAF also reaffirmed its dedication to preserving the country’s stability and sovereignty and warned against any intentional or unintentional acts that might jeopardise the peace in the country.
