Boafo Kojo Frempong donates to Wenchi Methodist Hospital to enhance healthcare

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Wenchi, Boafo Kojo Frempong, has made a transformative impact on local healthcare by donating over GHC400, 000 of essential medical equipment to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital in the Bono Region.

The substantial donation comprises 20 hospital beds, 20 mattresses, 50 oxygen nasal prongs, an ECG machine, defibrillators, ambu bags, patient monitors, examination lamps and infusion pumps.

This initiative directly addresses the ongoing challenge of “no bed syndrome” affecting the hospital.

During the donation ceremony held on 28 September 2024, Frempong expressed gratitude to Addai Donkor, former director of supply at the Ghana Health Service, for his role in facilitating the procurement.

He emphasised the critical need for improved healthcare services for the people of Wenchi and neighbouring areas.

“On behalf of Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP, I reaffirm our commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility in our community,” Frempong stated, hopeful that the new equipment would significantly improve hospital efficiency and save lives.

A Vision for Wenchi

Frempong reiterated his political mission to serve the community, pledging to uplift the Wenchi Municipality and fulfil his vision of making Wenchi great again. His campaign slogan, “Make Wenchi Great Again,” signals his growing influence in the constituency. He also announced plans to enhance healthcare services at Subinso II, Nchiraa, and Tromeso polyclinics.

“It is not only this hospital that needs support; we aim to resource other health facilities, including Subinso II, Nchiraa, and Tromeso polyclinics, to improve the quality of healthcare delivery in these areas,” he asserted.

Response from Hospital Leadership

The medical director of Wenchi Methodist Hospital, Dr. Kwaku Amponsah Poku, accepted the donation on behalf of the hospital staff and management. He highlighted the significant impact the new equipment would have on healthcare delivery and commended Frempong’s generosity, urging others to contribute.

“We are immensely grateful to Boafo Kojo Frempong and Dr. Addai Donkor for this crucial contribution. These resources will greatly enhance the quality of healthcare at our hospital and across the municipality,” Dr. Poku stated.

The event saw attendance from Awudu Ali, the NPP constituency chairman, and other party members, all committed to advancing the health and well-being of their constituents.
