Although Africa is at crossroads, her destiny is in her hands – Mahama

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is of the view that the African continent is at a crossroads.

According to him, although the continent boasts of rich resources and youth, it continues to grapple with economic disparities.

He adds that the continent has challenges with infrastructural deficits and other structural barriers that impede the continent’s forward movement.

However, he notes that there is some good news for the continent because its destiny remains in its own hands.

“Our continent, Africa, is at a crossroads. On one hand, we boast of immense natural wealth, a youthful and dynamic population and growing technological advancement. On the other hand, we continue to grapple with economic disparities, infrastructure deficit, and structural barriers that impede our forward movement,” he said while addressing the audience at the African Prosperity Dialogues.

However, he explained that regardless of the challenges, Africa’s future lies in its hand and the decision made will determine how the continent will deal with its numerous challenges.

“But the good news is that our destiny is in our own hands. The actions that we take today through decisive and strategic partnerships will define the future of this dear continent of ours.”

The President was speaking as a guest at the African Prosperity Dialogues held in Accra.
