The Executive Chairman of McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley [McDan], has revealed that he is building a one-of-a-kind sports facility in Ada, unlike anything seen before in Africa.The business mogul aims to unearth talent in the Ada area, where he operates a salt mining company.In an interview with Asempa FM, monitored by footballghana.com, McDan said, “What we are building at Ada is a sports village. In 2020, Electrochem Ghana Limited, a company owned by Daniel McKorley, secured a lease from traditional leaders and government approval to mine salt in the Ada-Songor lagoon.
Despite several demonstrations by Ada youth protesting the project, Electrochem continued its mining operations.
Electrochem Ghana Limited has a concession of 41,000 acres at Ada Songor to produce 1 million metric tons of salt per year for local and export markets.
The company plans to use part of the salt to supply a chlor-alkali plant for caustic soda and other chemical production.
Phase one of the project has created 3,000 jobs, and the final phase is expected to employ a total of 7,000 people.
