Volta airport a complete waste of scarce resources—Anyidoho bites Mahama

Former Deputy General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has reiterated that the decision to build an airport for the Volta Region has never made sense.

He says he at the time was against it because he thought it was a complete waste of the country’s scarce resources.

Although he was hated for his position expressed at the time, time has vindicated him because the airport is virtually a white elephant.

In a post via social media, Koku Anyidoho explained that “As a Voltarian and Deputy GS of NDC at the time, I was never enthused about John Mahama’s Airport Project for the Region because it was obvious that it would not serve any viable purpose. I have been hated, but VINDICATED????????????. Complete waste of scarce resources.”

However, in January 2024, John Dramani Mahama justified the construction of an airport in the Volta Regional capital.

He indicated that apart from its tourism potential, it can also be used for aviation studies, and that will help boost the economy of the Volta region.

The former President did not agree with people who are of the view that the airport is a white elephant and promised to make it effective should power be given to him for the second time.
