Afrobeats sensation Elom Adablah, better known as E.L., and songstress Sefadzi Abena Amesu, popularly known as S3fa, are set to headline the second edition of the ‘Ghana to the Moon Festival’.
Scheduled for 14 December 2024 at Accra’s World Trade Centre, the event promises to showcase a lineup of Ghana’s finest music talents, marking an electrifying close to the year.
The festival is more than just a music concert—it’s a movement. Designed as a platform for Ghanaian artists from diverse backgrounds to shine on the global stage, the initiative seeks to challenge the stereotype that Ghanaian performers rarely break through to international audiences.
By providing this exposure, the organisers aim to bridge the gap in representation and bring Ghana’s rich musical heritage to the world.
“We want to really take Ghana to the moon,” said Daria Hookfin, President and Chief Marketing Officer of MetaMuzik, the consultancy firm behind the festival.
“We want to be able to give artists a platform where they can be exposed, more like, abroad audiences.”
This year’s festival will feature headlining performances from E.L., S3fa, Veana Negasi, and Kofi Jamar, among others.
Supporting acts include DJ Casford from Asaase Radio, DJ Lambo, and DJ Buju, while the night will be hosted by MC Glitterazzi, Princess A.J. of YFM, and Nii Global.
This broader initiative seeks to celebrate African creativity on a global scale, providing a unique stage for emerging artists across the continent.
Beyond the music, this year’s festival will embrace art and technology with a special competition called the ‘New Moon Challenge’.
This contest has already attracted over 100 submissions, with winners standing to gain lucrative distribution deals and industry support.
“What you can expect is that this is going to transcend music,” Hookfin emphasised. “We’re going to work with them throughout the year to basically get them to release a project.”
The weekend event will also include an art exhibition to spotlight the vibrant artistry within Africa, encouraging wider participation in the creative and tech industries.
According to Hookfin, “We’re also going to be looking at art competitions, and we’re also looking to have different setups throughout the nation, all throughout Africa.”
The ‘Ghana to the Moon Festival’ is poised to be a celebration of African culture, creativity, and innovation, attracting not just music lovers but art enthusiasts and tech innovators alike.
