French Embassy’s Création Africa Ghana turns one-year-old

The French Embassy marked the first anniversary of its Création Africa Ghana initiative with a celebration in Accra.

The initiative, which officially launched on 13 November 2023, has rapidly become a game-changer for Ghanaian entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative industries.

The French ambassador to Ghana, Jules-Armand Aniambossou, spoke passionately at the event, emphasising the impact of the programme on fostering innovation and sustainable job creation.

“The incubation programme is one of the cornerstones of this Création Africa Initiative,” Aniambossou remarked.

“It is at the heart of the new partnership we are co-constructing with Ghana—a mutual beneficiary relationship, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable job creation in our areas of expertise.”

Création Africa Ghana is part of a broader regional project spanning 17 African nations, aiming to elevate local talent and connect creative communities across borders.

According to Aniambossou, the initiative is not only a catalyst for innovation but also a means to strengthen ties between Ghana and France.

The ambassador further emphasised that the programme is designed to bolster capacity building among Ghanaian creatives, opening doors to international events and platforms in France, West Africa, and beyond.

“It includes way more initiatives, particularly to enhance capacity building and allow Ghanaian creatives to participate in international events in France or West Africa and beyond,” he added.

Jérémie Desjardins, the cultural officer at the French Embassy, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the programme’s transformative effect on Ghana’s creative landscape.

“This programme has a really big impact on the creative communities in Ghana. I think it has fulfilled some needs and also, for our interest, allowed France to take some leadership on the sector,” Desjardins observed.
