Ghanaian para-athlete Zinabu Issah has advanced to the final of the women’s discus throw (F57) at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games following a standout performance in the qualifying round on Friday (30 August) at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
Issah, competing against athletes from Brazil, Russia, Cameroon, the Czech Republic, and Gabon, needed to place in the top four to secure her place in the final.
After a challenging start with a throw of 19.30m, the 44-year-old Ghanaian delivered a remarkable second attempt, reaching 24.39m.
This effort placed her third in the rankings, just behind Russia’s Ekaterina Vetokhina (24.52m) and Brazil’s Julyana Cristina da Silva, who led the round with a throw of 24.75m.
Issah will now compete in the final on Saturday (31 August) at 8:00 AM GMT at the Stade de France, aiming to bring home a medal for Ghana.
