Walewale NPP Constituency Secretary fails to produce letters of absentee delegates

The Walewale Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Yidana Wuni on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, failed to produce letters of absentee delegates in the January 27, 2024 parliamentary primaries.

During cross-examination at the Tamale High Court1 presided over by Justice Richard Kogyapwah , the plaintiff’s witness who promised to produce his phone with WhatsApp messages showing proof that certain delegates sent him letters to show that they were absent but some people voted for them failed to do so.

His reason was that the phone containing such evidence had been tampered with by his daughter and the evidence had been deleted after the phone was taken for repairs.

 Lawyers for the 1st Defendant led by Samson Lardy Ayenini put it to him that he was lying and being dishonest with the court and that those letters were procured to assist the case of the plaintiff.

It was also put to him that he had contacted persons who participated in the election and threatened them not to come to court to testify in an attempt to hide the truth from the court.

Yidana Wuni who is the constituency secretary and also doubled as secretary for the trial elections committee.
