The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on December 30, 2024.

In the statement announcing the release, WAEC disclosed that the Ghana Examinations Committee had, after its 37th meeting, approved the withholding of subject results for certain candidates due to their alleged involvement in examination malpractices.

As part of the ongoing investigation, WAEC has completed the scrutiny of the scripts of these candidates.

The Council has since invited the affected students, along with their parents or guardians, to meet with selected staff members for a chance to present their side of the story.

The candidates are expected to respond to the allegations of malpractice and provide written statements in the presence of their guardians.

This marks the final stage of the investigation process. Afterward, the necessary decisions will be made regarding the withheld results. WAEC has firmly stated that the candidates are not being coerced or intimidated into writing these statements, despite claims made by some parents to the contrary.

In light of these developments, WAEC has called on the parents, guardians, and candidates involved to cooperate fully with the Council to expedite the resolution of the situation and finalise the results as swiftly as possible.
