Former US President Barack Obama has endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris for president ahead of the November elections.
Kamala Harris has attracted the support of enough Democratic delegates to become the party’s nominee for president.
A survey by the Associated Press on Monday evening said Ms Harris had received the endorsement of more than the 1,976 delegates needed to win the nomination in the first round of voting.
Reacting to the development on Twitter on Friday(26 July), Obama said he and his wife will do everything possible to ensure Kamala Harris wins the crucial election.
“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support.”
“At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us,” Obama wrote on X.
