The University Teacher Association (UTAG) has warned of a nationwide industrial action if illegal mining is not halted by the end of September 2024.
They join calls from many organizations, including the Ghana Medical Association and the Ghana Bar Association, who have complained bitterly about the menace that is affecting the country.
UTAG says they will use every constitutional means to ensure that the fight against illegal mining is won because government initiatives have over the years failed woefully.
The worry of the Association is the fact that illegal mining has become economic empowerment for chiefs, politicians, and the elite at the expense of the people of Ghana.
Indicating that it does not look like the rigid stand by some Chiefs including the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II would yield any results.
