'There are no minnows again’ – Kwesi Appiah reacts to facing Ghana in 2025 AFCON qualifiers
Sudan national team head coach, Kwesi Appiah, has reacted to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations draw pitching his team against his native Ghana.The Black Stars and Sudan are in Group F alongside Angola and Niger following the group draw in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday afternoon.Reacting to the draw, the 64-year-old said there are no small teams again ahead of his return to Ghana to face the Black Stars.“I’ve always said there [are] no minnows in football now,” Kwesi Appiah remarked in an interview with 3 Sports.“It is really important that any team you meet, you prepare very well and make sure you have the right team to try and win the day.”Kwesi Appiah coach the Black Stars twice; the first stint between 2012 and 2014 and the second from 2017 to 2019.His Sudan team is currently top of their 2026 World Cup qualifying Group B with ten points, two ahead of Senegal.
