Barring any late challenges, the Tamale High Court 1 will today, September 2, 2024, rule on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Walewale Constituency Parliamentary Primary dispute.
This was made known by trial judge Justice Richard Kogyapwah on August 28, 2024 when he directed the legal representatives of the parties involved to file their written addresses..
Both lawyers, Samson Lardy Anyenini, counsel for 1st defendant Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, and the counsel for Madam Lariba Zuweira Abudu, Sylvester Isang, have presented their witnesses and have been cross-examined.
Lawyers were asked to file their written addresses by Friday, August 30, 2024, for judgment to be made on Monday, September 2, 2024.
This court case follows the current Member of Parliament (MP), Hajia Lariba Zuweratu decision to head to court to challenge the results of the NPP Walewale parliamentary primary.
Tamale High Court has since directed that both the plaintiff and the 1st defendant should not hold themselves as parliamentary candidates for the Walewale constituency for the 2024 general election until a final determination of the case.
