Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, Millicient Amankwa has assured the people of Sunyani West that she will work with the security in her constituency to ensure that perpetrators of the heinous crime against Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be brought to book.
She used the opportunity to condemn the violence.
Making this known in a post shared via social media, Millicent Amankwa said football should unite rather than divide.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Yaw Francis, also known as Pooley, a devoted Asante Kotoko supporter, during the match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre, within my constituency, on Sunday, 2nd February 2025. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire football community.
As the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, I strongly condemn the violence that led to this unfortunate incident. I will work closely with the Bono Regional Minister and security forces to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Football is a sport that unites us, and it is unacceptable that such a tragedy has occurred. I urge the Ghana Football Association to take immediate action to review and strengthen security protocols at all match venues to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Let us come together to promote peace, safety, and sportsmanship in our beloved sport”.
