According to a statement issued on 8 December 2024, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in attacks on public properties, including the burning of the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Damongo, Savannah Region.
The attacks also targeted the residences of District Chief Executives (DCEs) and resulted in vandalism at several collation centers.
Additionally, some of the suspects were found to have broken into the School Feeding Project Warehouse in Tamale, Northern Region, where they stole food supplies and other items.
The police have retrieved video footage of the incidents, which is currently being reviewed by investigators to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the acts of vandalism and theft.
Authorities have assured the public of intensified patrols and strategically deployed officers to maintain law and order.
“We urge the public to remain calm as Police officers have been strategically deployed to key locations with intensified patrols,” the statement said.
