Our people were fighting for every seat – Ayariga on NDC’s Victory

Mahama Ayariga has defended the determined efforts of NDC members to secure a commanding victory in the recent elections.

Ayariga responded to observations that the party seemed unwilling to leave any ground for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in an interview with with Bernard Avle on Point of View monitored by MyNewsGH.

“In some regions, we won everything—Upper East, Upper West. You can just see that it was a general pattern of Ghanaians being totally dissatisfied with the NPP as a government and as a political party,” he said, noting the wave of support for the NDC.

When asked about the intense competition in constituencies such as Auma North Central, Ayariga justified the party’s approach. “Your people were fighting for Auma North Central. It’s almost like you don’t want to leave anything for the NPP. Why?”

In response, Ayariga remarked, “You can’t blame them for that.” He attributed the determination to the members’ commitment to ensuring the NPP was held accountable for its performance over the years.

The NDC’s strong showing in the elections, coupled with its members’ resolve, has cemented the party’s renewed presence across the country. Ayariga expressed confidence that this momentum reflects Ghanaians’ trust in the NDC to govern effectively.
