O’Reilly Murder: Family of deceased student chase out GES Boss, Headteacher

The family of the deceased O’Reilly  Senior High School (SHS) student,  Edward Borketey Sackey, chased out the officials of the Ghana Education Service(GES) led by the Director General Dr Eric Nkansah and the Headteacher of the School who paid a condolence visit to their home.

The officials from the Ghana Education Service visited the home of the final-year student who was murdered by a colleague over a trivial argument.

This visit from GES, led by the Director General, Dr Eric Nkansah, follows a press statement released to extend its condolences to the family of the deceased and assure the public that a thorough investigation was underway.

In a video shared by TV3, GES and the family of the deceased student were seen engaged in a heated argument after the institution promised justice for the murder of Edward Borketey Sackey.

However, during conversations with the family, they were dissatisfied with the assurance presented by GES hence the family chased out the officials as the conversation ended inconclusively amidst heated exchanges.

The father of the deceased in an interview with TV3 said that a request of two weeks has been given to the school to come out with a reasonable response or legal actions will be taken against the institution.

“They said the school has rules and regulations so they will investigate with the police. So we are holding on for that two weeks and see what they will come out with. If they don’t come out with anything reasonable, we’ll take the legal action”. He warned.

It would be recalled that on  September 2, 2024, Edward Borketey Sackey, an 18-year-old student at O’Reilly Senior High School, was stabbed to death by a fellow student.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a disagreement between Edward and another student from the Visual Arts Department, identified as Godwin, over a trivial matter. The suspect is currently in the grips of the police as investigations are ongoing.
