Minister-Designate in Charge of Government Communication, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, has indicated that the President of Ghana has not regretted his promise to appoint 60 ministers.

According to him, the president’s promise to run a lean government was not said in jest and he is seeing to ensuring that.

To Ofosu Kwakye, the President does not take the mandate given to him lightly and has warned his appointees to ensure that they do not take the people of Ghana for granted.

“President Mahama campaigned strongly on experience, and thus far he has proven that experience counts. He remains unfazed He is not ruffled by what he’s met; he has remained stoic and has gone about his appointment in a manner that reflects a man who knows what he is about.

He meant every word when he promised 60 ministers. He didn’t say it in jest. He meant what he said. In addition to having a lean government, he has also indicated that he is going to enforce discipline and proper conduct.

Yesterday he sent out a strong message that no member of his government will be permitted to engage in any form of small-scale mining. So forget about whether it is illegal or legal. No member of his government is permitted to engage in small-scale mining. He has cautioned us strongly that he will not countenance disrespect, arrogance and misconduct and that we should always bear in mind that it is the Ghanaian people who employ us,” he told the appointments committee in Parliament.
