Oguaa Traditional Council bans noise-making ahead of Fetu Afahye

The ban is part of activities for the Fetu Festival, celebrated annually in the first week of September by the people of Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The Fetu Festival celebrates a bountiful harvest and expresses gratitude to the 77 deities of the Oguaa Traditional Area.

Within the period of the ban on noise-making, no loud wailing or mourning, quarrelling within the traditional area, pounding of fufu after 6pm, and playing of drums or loud music are prohibited, until 21 September 2024.

These measures are set to ensure a respectful, and peaceful environment leading up to the festival.
