The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has written to all its constituency chairpersons to submit names of party members at the constituency level for onward appointment to positions at the state level when the party forms the next government from 7 January 2025.

The request was contained in a letter dated Tuesday, 24 December 2024, signed by Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, the NDC Greater Accra regional secretary and copied to all the party’s Members of Parliament elect and the regional council of elders of the party.

Some political analysts have pointed out that whiles this may create excitement of inclusivity at the grassroots level others are saying it may end up being a counterproductive grand scheme of setting up the NDC base for widespread disappointments.

“You are kindly requested to submit party nominees from your Constituency deemed fit for appointment into the following areas; Ministerial, Deputy Ministerial, Ambassadorial, C.E.Os, Directors, Council of state and Board Members,” the request letter read.

“Please submit the name of official, state the highest level qualification, contact and Area of interest for appointment. This should reach the Regional Secretariat by the close of work on Monday 30 December 2024,” the NDC communique to its regional chairpersonsr further read.

The NDC’s John Dramani Mahama won the 7 December 2024 presidential and Parliamentary elections  with about 57% of the total valid votes cast and togehter with his vice president-elect, they will assume office on 7 January 2025. As president, he is expected to make a wide-range of appointments including those listed in the letter of request to the NDC’s regional chairpersons.
