Black Stars winger Joseph Painstil was not part of the team that left Ghana for Morocco.
According to reports, he stayed away from the match against Niger due to passport issues he has been faced with.
Painstil has been left behind to work on his passport.
A statement announcing his decision to stay out of the squad said, “Twenty three players made the trip after Joseph Painstil pulled out due to Passport issues. The Los Angeles Galaxy forward has been left in Accra to sort out his passport issues before returning to the United States to join his club,”.
The United States-based player will miss Ghana’s must-win match against Niger on September 9, 2024.
