It was an accident – Cynthia Morrison rebuff attempted assassination  claims

The Independent Parliamentary Candidate for Agona West Constituency, Cynthia Morrison has cleared the air on the news of an attempted assassination on her yesterday at Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region.

Reports came in that in the late hours of of Sunday October 27, 2024 suggesting that   an unknown man on a motorbike with a gun aimed to shoot at the MP but lost his target.

This incident happened while she and campaign team  were heading to Agona Swedru from a campaign launch at Otinkorang a community within the Agona West enclave.

While reacting to the reports of the attempted assassination, Cynthia Morrison, stated that  after the campaign was over, the police advised that she stays in her car due to the large number of people at the campaign grounds as they deemed it as unsafe.

According to her, one of her entourage told her a gun was shot few minutes after she was advised to sit in her car. She however denied hearing any gun shot as reported.

“I didn’t hear the gunshot because I was close to the music being played. So my police and security helped me to get to my car and left the campaign grounds”. She revealed.

She disclosed that when they were on their way out of the campaign grounds, the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin called to inquire about the mayhem that had happened at the campaign grounds but they had a misunderstanding which resulted in a heated argument.

Cynthia Morrison however emphasized during an interview on TV3’s NewDay that “It was an accident, that’s what I can say for now because seriously I didn’t hear the gunshot and if it was not an attempt on my life, don’t know”.
