I’m the present, John Mahama is the past – Bawumia

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, posed a rhetorical question to Ghanaians about who among the presidential candidates is best equipped to fight corruption.

During the NPP’s final campaign rally, Dr. Bawumia urged the gathered crowd to vote for him, positioning himself as the candidate of the present while portraying John Mahama as a representative of the past.

Addressing the crowd, Dr. Bawumia asked, “You should ask yourself: who can better unite this country? Who can unite the country’s diversity?

Who can bring innovative ideas to propel Ghana into the Fourth Industrial Revolution? Who has the integrity to fight corruption in this country?

Who has compassion for the sick, the vulnerable, and the disabled? Who can continue the Free Senior High School (FSHS) initiative?”

Ghana’s general elections will take place on December 7, 2024, to elect the president and members of Parliament. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo, having reached his constitutional term limits, is ineligible for re-election.

Nearly 18.8 million registered voters across Ghana will participate in the country’s ninth general election since returning to multiparty democracy in the early 1990s.

Over the past three decades, Ghana has earned a reputation for peaceful, closely contested elections and orderly transitions of power between administrations.
