Health Minister-designate Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has indicated that he will facilitate to ensure the backlog of Ghanaian health workers are migrated to other countries that need them.

He was answering a question from the Member of Parliament for Pusiga who identified that the country has a backlog of Allied Health and Nurses who have graduated but have not been placed in the various health facilities in the country.

Addressing this issue, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh indicated that he will liaise with other countries that need the services of these professionals so that they are sent there to work.

He noted that the increasing numbers are a result of the effect on the country’s wage bill.

“The unemployment with regards to unemployment with regards to health professionals in this country is alarming. The issue has to do with the effect on the wage bill.

Therefore, there is a need for us to think outside the box. Mr Chairman, what I’m going to do is to probably link up with other countries so that we in the ministry will facilitate the migration of health professionals to other countries so that we create jobs for them,” he told Parliament’s Appointment Committee.
