Ghanaian paracyclist Frederick Assor has concluded his campaign at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games after placing 11th in the qualifying round of the Men’s B 1000m Time Trial on Sunday (1 September).
The event took place at the Vélodrome National in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, France.
Assor, paired with his pilot Rudolf Mensah, had earlier finished 16th in the Men’s B 4000m Individual Pursuit qualifying round on Thursday (29 August).
To advance to the finals of the 1000m Time Trial, the duo needed to secure a top-six finish. However, Assor clocked a time of 1:24.722, placing him 11th and trailing Ireland’s Damien Vereker, who came in 10th with a time of 1:06.740.
The gold medal in the Men’s B 1000m Time Trial was claimed by Britain’s James Ball, who delivered a stellar performance, finishing in 58.964 seconds.
Fellow Briton and event favourite, Neil Fachie, took silver with a time of 59.312 seconds, while Germany’s Thomas Ulbricht secured the bronze with a time of 59.862 seconds.
