Franklin Cudjoe kicks against Sanitation Day plan mooted by G/A Reg. Minister

President of Policy Think Tank, IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has kicked against the introduction of a sanitation day in Accra.

Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, speaking during an engagement with the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) on her first day in office, said the initiative aligns with the National Democratic Congress’ “Clean Up Ghana” agenda.

The Sanitation Day will be observed on the last Friday of every month to help clean the city.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister emphasised that sanitation and waste management would be a key performance indicator (KPI) for all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), stressing the need for a more competitive and responsible approach to environmental cleanliness.

But in a post shared via social media, Franklin Cudjoe indicated that there will be a need for a pause to be put on the sanitation day announced.

To him, there should be an intelligent way of dealing with the filth in the country’s capital, Accra.

“She must however pause plans to bring back sanitation days. We need intelligent, practical and entrepreneurial ways of dealing with poor sanitation. It is not that had!
