Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the winner of the Dome Kwabenya parliamentary election.
The EC, while announcing the winner, Elikplim Akurugu, said that after investigations and thorough scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding the use of a training sheet to tally the results there, they have concluded that the returning officer’s figures on her sheet point to one outcome.
James Zakariah Kwofie, the returning officer who announced the NDC PC as the winner of the parliamentary election said NPP Mike Ocquaye Jnr garnered 50,669 votes while NDC Elikplim Akurugu garnered 50,967 votes.
The Electoral Commission had earlier recommended a re-run of one polling station but the decision was quashed by the commission after its investigation that the figures recorded on the training sheet were accurate.
This means the NPP has lost another seat they were hoping to take in the 2024 elections that have seen them losing several seats.
