Dampare warns against electoral misconduct ahead of December polls

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is warning the public against any form of electoral misconduct as Ghana approaches its December elections.

He stressed that anyone found guilty of such acts will face the full force of the law.

Dr. Dampare made the remarks during the commissioning of a new police station in Akyem-Manso in the Eastern Region on Friday (15 November).

He reassured the public of the police service’s preparedness to ensure a peaceful election, outlining steps to detect and address any potential unrest before it escalates.

“Don’t be lured into creating confusion during the polls because my people will not spare you. Don’t forget that the people who will lure you to create confusion will switch off their phones when you are arrested. They will simply abandon you,” he warned.

The IGP further emphasized the importance of exercising voting rights peacefully, urging Ghanaians to respect the democratic process and the rights of others.

Dr. Dampare also reassured citizens that the police are fully committed to maintaining law and order, ensuring a secure environment for free and fair elections.

“We are fully prepared, and I can assure you that the elections will be peaceful,” Dr. Dampare affirmed, calling on all Ghanaians to support efforts to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
