CAF Champions League: We’ll rub shoulders with Victoria United – Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu

Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu has opened up on facing Cameroonian outfit Victoria United in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

The Timber giants are representing Ghana in the CAF elite competition next season following their historic Ghana Premier League triumph last season, dethroning Medeama.

Samartex will travel to face Cameroonian champions, Victoria United FC on August 18, 2024 at the Omnisport Stadium before the return fixture in Ghana on August 25.

The Timber giants will host Victoria United at the Accra Sports Stadium following the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) approval.

Speaking ahead of the game, Amadu affirmed his side will rub shoulders with their opponent since both teams are debutants.

“Fortunately for both teams, we are all debutants so we are going to rub shoulders with each other. Watching their games, you could see that they are a good side. They try to possess the ball and play from the back”

“Gone at the days, we use to know Cameroon players to be physical but now, they are playing good football. We have started to at least adopt some strategies for the game. We have three weeks before the game so I think that we should be able to manage them”

Samartex are aiming to make a mark in their maiden CAF Champions League campaign.

The winner of the tie will progress to the second preliminary round where they potentially face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a place in the group stages.
