The Power Utility of Burkina Faso, SONABEL has informed the Water Resources Commission of the planned water spillage from the Bagre dam.
According to a statement released and signed by the executive secretary of SONABEL, Jesse Kazapoe, the water level in the Bagre Dam has risen since Friday, August 2nd, 2024 hence the need to spill over.
According to the Power Utility Department of Burkina Faso, the water level of the Bagre Dam has risen to 232.82m.
The company further disclosed that the commencement of the water spillage of the Bagre Dam will take place on Monday, August 19th, 2024.
This spillage from the Bagre Dam according to the release may cause the White Volta to overflow and likely flood some areas in some towns.
The residents along the White Volta have been advised to take precautionary measures to avoid being affected gravely by the spillage.
