The political tensions surrounding the Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Ablekuma North constituencies have taken a dramatic turn, with a High Court ruling that directs the Electoral Commission (EC) to recollate and declare the results.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri lawmaker, has expressed confidence in the outcome, viewing the decision as a significant step toward resolving the electoral dispute.
Speaking after the court’s directive, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP shared his satisfaction with the process so far, emphasizing his readiness for the next stage.
“The court did its job. I anticipated it, and it happened, so glory be to God,” he remarked. “But it is not done yet. We are going for the collation and declaration.
“We’ve done our work; internally, we’ve collated the results and know we won. We were just waiting for the processes to begin. We pray they do it as soon as possible—I can’t wait to be in parliament.”
Justice Joseph Adu Owusu Agyeman, presiding over the case, ordered the EC to proceed with the recollation despite fierce objections from both sides.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), represented by Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo, opposed the directive, as did Gary Nimako, legal counsel for Annoh-Dompreh. Both objections were overruled, allowing the process to move forward.
