75,000 unclaimed passports to be audited and delivered—Ablakwa reveals

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has disclosed that the passport office has over 75,000 unclaimed passports in its possession.

According to him, after taking over office, he intends to audit the passports and reach out to persons who own them.

He intends to introduce a courier service that will be used to deliver these passports after they have been able to reach the owners of the passports.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa was speaking on Accra-based TV3 when he made this known.

The Minister who spoke on ambassadors and High Commissioners said they will be given KPIs to guide their work.

“Ambassadors who do not meet KPIs will be removed. Every month we expect reports and we expect you to do major reforms.

We will have biannual reviews; however, even before these reviews, people who are not giving off their best will be queried to draw their attention to the fact that they have a mandate to deliver for the people of Ghana,” he stated on TV3.
