The presidential candidate for the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) in the 2020 elections, Brigitte Dzogbenuku has expressed doubts about the 24-hour economy being touted by the opposition NationalvDemocratic Congress.
She cannot gauge the impact it will have on the lives of the Ghanaian people and thinks it’s just a slogan.
The former CPP flagbearer made this known when she spoke on Accra-based Joy News.
”I think it’s just a slogan. I don’t think it will make a huge difference,” she stated.
Defending her position, Brigitte indicated that for such a policy to thrive, the business environment needs to be secured and made conducive but that is not the case in Ghana at the moment.
“You’re talking about the 24-hour economy, can we talk about our security first? Can that be put in place and many other things – our transport, our fuel, streetlights – there are so many basic things that need to be put in place for this 24-hour economy to work,” she noted.
Brigitte did not mince words when she said in the current economy Ghana finds itself in, it will be very difficult to implement such a policy.
“So let’s not be fueled with sloganeering. Free SHS, we heard a slogan and they implemented and look at where we are with it?”
The former Presidential candidate said with all the manifestos presented by the various political parties, it is only Alan Kyrlerematen’s Great Transformational Plan she has interest in as it addresses critical issues in the country.
