Teachers are now toothless bulldogs – Angel Carbonu

The President of NAGRAT, Angel Carbonu, believes that teachers under the current dispensation are toothless bulldogs who cannot apply stricter punishments, which is, contributing to a rise in the level of indiscipline in schools.

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a senior high school student of the O’Reilly SHS.

He was arrested after he stabbed to death his colleague, with whom he had an argument that turned physical.

The family of the deceased student whose name is given as Edward Borketey has since threatened to sue the school.

But speaking to Citi News in an interview, Angel Carbonu indicated that “the supervisor needs authority to command and to implement the supervisory role. The teacher needs to have the command and the power to isolate from the generality anyone whose presence is causing discomfort for the majority”.

Citing his time in Pope John High School and the fact that recalcitrant students were deboardenized and dismissed for particular offences, Angel Carbonu indicated that “there are some children without experiencing the heat of law will not conform, they will never never conform”.

He criticized the current system where teachers cannot punish students describing it as Eutopian and not fit for the system.
