To ensure a smooth start to the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which begins on Monday, July 8, all 1,074 BECE candidates from the Effia Constituency in the Western Region have been gifted a free mathematical set and other stationery.
These gifts were presented by the NPP Parliamentary candidate of Effia, Isaac Boamah Nyarko.
During the presentation of the mathematical sets and other supplies to the Effia-Kwesimintsim Educational Directorate, Nyarko expressed that this gesture is his way of contributing to the improvement of education in the constituency.
“Education is very key and we have our students starting the exams so I thought it is necessary to donate these to help them prepare for the exams. To this end, I’m giving one math set each, a pen, pencil and a rule. This is for the entire public and private school candidates. Per my data, the total number of students writing the exams in Effia is 1,074 but I have brought 1,200 in case some issues will require more“, he said.
In a bid to motivate the BECE candidates to excel in the exams, Boamah has also pledged a special prize for the best performing students in the examination.
Jane Abban, the Public Relations Officer at the Effia-Kwesimintsim Education Directorate, received the donation on behalf of the candidates.
She expressed gratitude to Isaac Boamah for his support of education in the Effia Constituency and assured high performance from the candidates.
Overall, 2,934 candidates are slated to participate in the BECE in the Effa-Kwesimintsim starting tomorrow. Of these, 2,420 will be taking the exam at the Takoradi Technical University campus centre, while the remaining 514 will be at the Takoradi Secondary School centre.
