Women should buy rings for their husbands – Apostle Emmanuel Inkoom

Apostle Emmanuel Inkoom has sparked a debate over the long-standing tradition of men purchasing wedding rings for their wives, arguing that women should also buy rings for their husbands.

Speaking on Joy Prime, monitored by MyNewsGh, he stated, “Ring is not in the Bible, but we have adopted it from another culture. If a man is making a promise to his wife with a ring, the woman should also make a promise by buying a ring for her husband. Why should the man buy both rings?”

He further explained that couples should shop for their rings together, ensuring that both partners choose the styles they prefer.

According to him, the tradition of a man solely purchasing the rings does not make sense and should be reconsidered.

His comment contradicted a proposition made by co-panelist Rev. Nanayaa Tina Owusu-Prempeh on the same show.

“Never buy your own wedding ring or gown as a woman,” she advised. “The man should take responsibility for those. But if the woman wants to contribute towards the wedding, she can—especially when it comes to the food and other arrangements.”
