What Asamoah Gyan said when he was appointed Chairman of Bawumia’s Youth and Sports manifesto committee

Ghana Black Stars ex-captain Asamoah Gyan has provided clarity on his position in Ghana’s political space.

He has explained that he is not affiliated with any political party, cementing the position he has expressed all over the years.

His recent announcement has generated hue and cry with some political analysts claiming the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer’s campaign has been hit.

However, Asamoah Gyan has over the years insisted that he has no political leanings in the country and has no plans of contesting for any seat even though he has on several occasions been approached.

A recent comment after he was appointed by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to Chair the Youth and sports Committee of his manifesto team is an example and proof of the ex-footballer’s insistence on him not being a politician.

“If all Ghana leaders met and said let’s go and talk to this guy. It is an honour. It is something I can’t forget. It made my soul happy . I consider it a good honour”, he said on Asempa FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com Monday.

Asamoah Gyan however clarified that he is not a Politician and is open to working for both the NPP and the NDC.

“I’m not a politician. For me it is a great honour for elders of Ghana to consider me a sports person to be appointed…” He added.

He urged his colleagues not to be afraid to contribute to the country when called upon.

“There are lots of people with ideas who are afraid to give their contribution. I will encourage my colleagues who are approached to contribute. I will contribute regardless of the party. I work under NPP. I work under NDC”. HE added.
